During peak sakura (late March–early April), the Meguro River turns into a pedestrian-only river of people. Visit on weekday mornings or after 22:00 for relatively quiet photos. Starting from Ikejiri-Ohashi Station and walking downstream toward Nakameguro is also less congested than the reverse.
Paper lanterns light the Meguro River every evening (roughly 17:00-21:00) for about two weeks during peak bloom. Check the Meguro Tourism Association site for exact dates. Sakura sparkling wine, yakisoba and frankfurter food stalls line the river — bring cash, many stalls are cash-only.
A classic Nakameguro coffee crawl: ONIBUS COFFEE (2 min from station) → % ARABICA riverside (6 min) → Starbucks Reserve Roastery Tokyo (14 min along the river). All three together take 2–3 hours including walking and photos along the sakura path.
The Reserve Roastery is walk-in only on normal days — no reservation required. During sakura peak (late March–early April) entry tickets may be issued; arrive right at the 7:00 AM opening to be safe. The 4F terrace overlooking the Meguro River is first-come, first-served.
Expect a 1-hour queue on weekdays and 2+ hours on weekends. The shop usually sells out by 14:00. If you're short on time, Motsuyaki Ban, % ARABICA and Mitsuyado Seimen are all within 3 minutes — perfect for a food-packed day instead.
Nakameguro is sandwiched between Daikanyama (10 min walk east) and Ebisu (15 min walk north). Combine all three in one day: breakfast at Ivy Place (Daikanyama), sakura stroll through Nakameguro, evening beer at Yebisu Garden Place.

Daikanyama is only 10-15 minutes on foot via quiet backstreets and the Nakameguro Koka-shita viaduct. Ebisu is about 15 minutes via Komazawa-dori. Walking lets you discover boutiques and indie cafes that train travelers miss — highly recommended.
