Opened in 2020 on former Odakyu Line tracks, BONUS TRACK is a low-rise complex with 9 indie shops including bookstore B&B, diary shop Tsukihi, and fermented food specialist Hakko Department. The central plaza welcomes picnickers with craft beer. Visited by BTS RM in 2022 and featured on countless Korean travel YouTube channels and Naver blogs — now a pilgrimage spot.

Part of the same railway-redevelopment project as BONUS TRACK, reload features pure-white low-rise villa architecture hosting OGAWA COFFEE LABORATORY, green-tea specialist Shimokita Chaen Oyama, and washi paper brand SIWA. The alley-like layout feels like a European backstreet — one of Shimokitazawa's most photogenic spots, popular among Korean travelers for portrait shoots.
Theatre
The heart of Shimokitazawa's theatre culture since 1982. This 386-seat venue is the reason Shimokita is called "Tokyo's theatre town" — hosting works by Japanese stage legends Hideki Noda, Koki Mitani, and Kankuro Kudo. Even without seeing a play, the iconic black signboard is Shimokitazawa's most photographed backdrop, especially at night when the neon glows.

Founded in the late 1400s (Bunmei era), this guardian shrine of Setagaya sits peacefully in a forested residential lane away from the Shimokita buzz. Start at Toyo Hyakkaten Annex (20+ shops in one building), then hit Stick out for ¥700 finds, NEW YORK JOE EXCHANGE for the bathhouse photo-op, and Flamingo for women's pieces. Weekday afternoons are calmest. Bring cash — some shops don't take cards.
Enter BONUS TRACK from the Setagaya-Daita side (2 min from station) for the best approach. Snap photos at the Hakko Department signboard and B&B bookstore exterior — the same angles BTS RM shared in 2022. Weekend markets add extra energy; check @bonustrack_skz on Instagram.
Shimokitazawa is Tokyo's curry capital with an annual curry festival. Do a mini trail: Nasu Oyaji (eggplant keema) → Magic Spice (soup curry) → then sample more shops tagged in the Shimokitazawa Curry Association map. Pace yourself — curry servings are generous.
Even without watching a play, walk the "Honda Square" cluster: Honda Theatre, The Suzunari, OFF OFF Theatre, Ekimae Gekijo. The black-and-red Honda signboard is most photogenic after 18:00 when the neon lights up.
Shimokitazawa Station has 4 exits. North Exit: NEW YORK JOE, Flamingo, Senrogai Open Space. South Exit: Honda Theatre, Ichiran, curry belt. East Exit: Mikan Shimokita, reload. Central Exit: quick access to all zones. Mikan is directly connected — great for rain.
Serious vintage shopping alone takes 2–3 hours. Add cafe stops, BONUS TRACK exploration, and one meal — easily 5–6 hours. Wear comfortable shoes (uneven streets, upper-floor shops) and keep a bit of cash handy.
Shimokitazawa Station sits at the intersection of the Odakyu Line (to/from Shinjuku) and the Keio Inokashira Line (to/from Shibuya).
From Shinjuku: Odakyu Line, 7 min, ¥180. From Shibuya: Keio Inokashira Line, 4 min, ¥130. Both lines stop at Shimokitazawa Station. Setagaya-Daita Station (Odakyu, 1 stop west) is the closest access to BONUS TRACK.
Shimokitazawa Station reopened with new layout in 2019. East Exit leads directly to Mikan Shimokita and reload. South Exit is closest to Honda Theatre and the curry belt. North Exit connects to vintage shops and Senrogai Open Space. For BONUS TRACK, exiting at Setagaya-Daita (1 stop west on Odakyu) is most efficient.
Shimokitazawa connects directly to these neighboring districts — all within a short train ride.
